Roadtrip 2015 // Redondon Beach

April 21, 2015
I couldn’t wait to get to Redondo Beach, my home, the place it all started. That day I missed my girls Sandy, Sophie & Patty so much! I spent so much time with them back then; they are like sisters to me and I miss them so much! That’s why it was even cooler to get to see my ex teacher and dear friend Sabina for lunch -> selfie time!! ;) She recommended going hydro-biking in Long Beach to us which sounded like so much fun we put it on the far top of our to do list. Since my nails looked like those of a mechanic – no offense to those hard working guys & girls – I was desperate to stop by at my favorite mani pedi place. I convinced my brother – well it didn’t really take much – to get a mani pedi as well – no nail polish. We stopped by at my old apartment and at the happiest place on earth – no not Disneyland – Yogurtland!! I’m such an addict :)

Roadtrip 2015 // Los Angeles 2

April 20, 2015
Of course we couldn’t stop in LA without going to Santa Monica and Venice Beach. I was mostly excited for breakfast at the Urth Caffe in Santa Monica, yum – I’m such a huge food lover! My brother wasn’t very impressed with the Santa Monica pier – and he didn’t even know that the pier appeared in the tv show Private Practice at the beginning of almost every episode! Did you know? He liked Venice Beach with all the street art and craziness much better.

Oh and we went to the Getty Museum in Malibu. I’m not sure if that was on the same day but someday we hiked up to the Griffith Observatory – where I saw JamesChardon (Kayture) #fangirl – and we visited the Charmed house – my all time favorite tv show #doublefangirl!

Roadtrip 2015 // Los Angeles 1

April 19, 2015
Sightseeing time! My brother has never been to California before so we did all the touristy stuff while we were in LA. We got up early in the morning – like we did the whole month – and had the Hollywood sign all to ourselves until one other family joined us. We didn’t mind as we needed someone to take a picture of us anyway. Don’t get us wrong we love selfies, but it’s nice to have a proper photo with full body length for the album ;) Later we visited the Walk of Fame, Beverly Hills and the Rodeo Drive. I got to eat at Le PainQuotidien and had sprinkled ice cream for desert which was the highlight of the day – I know this may sound wrong to you but it’s because I’ve seen all the touristy stuff before, so…

Roadtrip 2015 // Santa Barbara

April 18, 2015
After breakfast we walked down to the beach and hung out at the pier for a while before we hitting the stores ;) I know it sounds like we did a lot of shopping so far but I wasn’t really in the mood which is due to my shopping ban, which I have imposed upon me a few months before our trip. Afterwards I showed my brother my Montecito home where I used to stay for 3 months in 2012 and of course the beautiful butterfly beach, one of the few beaches in California dogs are allowed to dig wholes and take a dip in the ocean. We headed to Los Angeles – Echo Park to be precise – in the late afternoon to meet Noah, our first Airbnb host on this trip.

Roadtrip 2015 // Big Sur

April 17, 2015
We headed out early in the morning to pick up our rental car and started our journey down the coast on Hwy 1. I mean I’ve been to California – I used to live there for almost a year – but I totally missed out on this breath-taking coast line!! We took in the views and stopped on several vista points & outlooks. Even though the journey took us 9 hours (incl. all the stops) we didn’t talk that much in the car, we were just blown away by the beauty of nature. When we arrived in Santa Barbara in the evening we were starving! We totally forgot to eat during the day. There was just so much to look at! We stayed at a hotel we booked the day before* and were actually glad it wasn’t located too close to the center because our feet and legs definitely needed moving and stretching after such a long drive.

haha yeah, that's how we roll... xD

*next to the hostel in San Francisco and the Airbnb in Kauai we booked all the hotels, motels and Airbnbs only the day before we actually stayed there.
